A Year in Review 2016

The Claudia McGloin Clinic has had an extremely busy but amazing year! We've achieved so much in 12 months and topped what was a fantastic 2015! Never did we think we could outdo ourselves or achieve what we did. We are so grateful for everything we have achieved and we believe that hard work, dedication and the belief that you can achieve anything is key.

Looking back over the past 12 months of blogs, articles, pics and posts, we cannot believe how much we managed to pack into the year! There is so much to share but we have selected a few of our favourite moments.

The Sligo Champion featured the Claudia McGloin Clinic A Year in Review 2016. This highlighted being awarded Highly Commended Nurse of the Year, the launch of New You by Claudia McGloin, signature skincare range that was a finalist for Best Professional Skincare Range at the prestigious global My Face My Body Awards. The clinic was also a finalist for Best Aesthetic Clinic and was a finalist for Best Customer Services at the Sligo Business Awards.

We were honoured to have been finalists for a variety of awards in various categories in both Ireland and the UK. We were also honoured to be asked to be a judge for Ireland's Blog Awards as a leading blogger. Add to this we were delighted to have been awarded with our 5th consecutive Customer Services Award from WhatClinic.com and we were a finalist in the MRS2BE Bride's Choice Awards. We finished the year as a guest of Enhance Insurance at the Aesthetics Awards in London and had an amazing night.

We attended various conferences and meetings throughout the year in Ireland and UK and networked with lots of amazing suppliers, bloggers, colleagues and friends. The Claudia McGloin Clinic also took part in various events in Sligo to showcase the business the most recent in Castle Dargan Hotel for Sistas are Doin it for Themselves.

We have been featured in a lot of journals, magazines and newspapers as well as online social media. We were also asked to present at the 5th Journal of Aesthetic Nurses Conference in Liverpool a first for any Irish medical practitioner which was an honour. We also wrote a chapter in a a new medical book on Platelet Rich Plasma and have written various articles for aesthetic journals as well as being interviewed for various topics in regards to patient safety.

What an amazing year we have had and there is more to come in 2017. We have new exciting projects to announce but for now thank you to everyone we met along the way in 2016. It's been amazing...X

The Exchange 2016

I was invited to attend The Exchange 2016 by Sligo Chamber of Commerce in December. The event was held over two days in The Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa in Sligo.

The Exchange is for Ireland's Entrepreneurs to come together and network with each other as well as to be mentored by Top Business Leaders in Ireland. The 2 days were packed with mentoring and talks by some of Irelands best. The evening saw a networking event over wine tasting and a gala dinner.

Fine wines were supplied by The Wine Buff and we got to sample some of the best wines and learned how to wine taste!

The dรฉcor was fabulously done by the Radisson Blu and the food was amazing. The evening consisted of more networking and talks by amazing Entrepreneurs sharing their stories of how their businesses started.

I got to meet some amazing people including this guy - David McGowan. We just laughed and laughed over the 2 days! A standing joke is a caption for this pic - Botox & The Big Yoke!

I was also fortunate to have met and be mentored by some of Ireland's finest business leaders who have helped me with new ideas and to help with existing ones! Sometimes it's good to see others perspective on your business especially when you live and breathe yours 24/7. The input I got was invaluable and I cannot wait to put what I've learned into motion.

A huge thank you to the Sligo Chamber of Commerce for inviting me and I look forward to The Exchange 2017.

Happy 5th Birthday to us!

Happy Birthday to us....๐Ÿพ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿธ

Graduation Ceremony for HIQA and IHI Patient Safety Course

Last week I was invited to attend a graduation ceremony at the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) head office in Smithfields in Dublin. This was for the Patient Safety course that I did last year with HIQA and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI).

It was nice to meet everyone that had done the course. The group was so big that they had to separate the graduation into 2 groups. It was a nice day and unfortunately, I didn't get to take any pictures! The graduation cake was amazing!

I'm delighted to have completed this course and it has really helped me with my business and work within the Medical Aesthetic Industry. I can really use these tools to develop my practice as a nurse but also in helping with my Patients for Patient Safety role with the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Patient Safety is my passion and I am delighted to be apart of an amazing group of people that want to make a difference to the healthcare of Irish patients.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) for Hairloss one year on...

I had the pleasure of reviewing one of my patients last week who was treated just over 1 year ago with Dracula PRP Therapy for Hairloss and Hair Thinning.

She looked amazing but more importantly so did her hair! She had 1 treatment of PRP and noticed a huge difference at the 2-3 week stage. She initially hadn't told anybody that she had a treatment but she was soon getting lots of compliments from various people including her hairdresser! The difference was amazing!

Today her hair is still thick and shiny and it's not falling out as it had previously done! She doesn't have any visible patches on her scalp where her hair was thinning but you could clearly see fine wisps of baby hair that was still re growing!

Dracula PRP Therapy which is Dr Daniel Sister's version, is an amazing treatment! It blows my mind each time I do a treatment regardless of what it is for as everyone sees fantastic results a lot sooner than I tell them that they will! I just LOVE knowing I've personally made a huge difference to a persons wellbeing with this treatment!

Dracula PRP Therapy is exclusive to the Claudia McGloin Clinic and Ireland. Claudia trained with Dr Daniel Sister, a world renowned Anti-Ageing and Hormone Specialist in London a couple of years ago and has done several PRP treatments for a wide variety of conditions including Sports Injuries & Orthopaedics, Breast Volume Correction, Skin Rejuvenation, Nerve Damage, Skin Reactions and Burns.

For further information on PRP and other procedures the clinic offer, have a look at our websites or contact the Claudia McGloin Clinic directly by calling 071 9140728 or by emailing claudia@claudiamcgloinclinic.com

Review of a patient with Spinal Problems following Dracula PRP Therapy

I can 100% empathise with people who have pain due to Spinal Problems especially Slipped Discs and Trapped Nerves! I suffer with my Spine and unfortunately have had several surgeries and procedures which are ongoing!

When I saw my patient try to walk through the clinic door I immediately felt his pain. He could barely walk let alone climb onto the bed!

He was in absolute agony, muscles in spasm and he just could not function. Despite having physio with rest, nothing was working and he took to the Internet in desperation to find something to help!

He came across PRP and Dracula Therapy kept cropping up and found me and the clinic as I'm the only Medical Practitioner in Ireland doing this particular treatment. He says he knew there and then that this was the lifeline he needed and decided to try a treatment.

The results have been truly amazing as he is no longer in pain and is back doing his everyday activities! He says he has never looked back since that one and only treatment.

Pelvic Congestion Syndrome

What is Pelvic Congestion Syndrome?

Pelvic Congestion Syndrome (PCS) is a condition caused by Varicose Veins in the Pelvis. The Varicose Veins are caused by incompetent valves in the Veins of the Pelvis. This causes blood to fall back into the Pelvis rather than being taken away from the Pelvis by the Iliac Vein which causes congestion.

What are the symptoms of Pelvic Congestion Syndrome?

The symptoms of Pelvic Congestion Syndrome (PCS) are caused by these Varicose Veins pushing onto the other organs in the Pelvis:

* Pressure of the Varicose Veins onto the Pelvis causes Aching more so during a woman's period
* Pressure on the Rectum causes Bowel symptoms such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
* Pressure on the Bladder causes Irritable Bladder which can cause Stress Incontinence
* Pressure on the Vagina can cause Dyspareunia (Discomfort on Sexual Intercourse)

How is Pelvic Congestion Syndrome diagnosed?

If you suffer with any of the symptoms above and/or have any visible Varicose Veins around the Vulva, Groin or Vagina then you need to see a Medical Professional and have a Venous Duplex Ultrasound Scan. Scans such as Ultrasound, MRI and CT are not enough to diagnose Pelvic Congestion Syndrome. Sadly, a lot of women are misdiagnosed!

Currently in Ireland there is nowhere to have a Transvaginal Duplex Ultrasound Scan nor is the treatment for Pelvic Congestion Syndrome available in Ireland.

If you have PCS or you think you have please get in touch with Claudia at the Claudia McGloin Clinic/The Vein Clinic Ireland. You can contact her directly via email: claudia@claudiamcgloinclinic.com or by calling the clinic on 071 9140728.

Time to get those legs Summer Ready

Summer is fast approaching and if you have Thread or Varicose Veins that you want to get rid of then now is the time to start your treatments.

Unfortunately, there is not quick fix when it comes to treating Veins. We need to see you, assess you and scan you! You may only have Thread Veins on your legs BUT this is the first sign that there is potentially a 'hidden' Varicose Vein present.

If this is the case we will need to treat the Varicose Vein first before we can treat the Thread Veins plus you need to wear compression stockings day & night for 2 weeks after treatment so, we don't want to be treating you during a heatwave!

Contact the Claudia McGloin Clinic & The Vein Clinic Ireland today to book a consultation and get your legs Summer Ready :)
