Is there a link between Hormones and Pelvic Congestion Syndrome??

Since my Gynaecologist confirmed that I had Pelvic Congestion Syndrome (PCS), I have been doing a lot of research into this and the treatments available. I have talked with a lot of people on a support group that not only have PCS but they also have Endometriosis and Hormone problems! Just like me!

This cannot be a coincidence!

I am now convinced that there is a definite link between the fact that I have no Progesterone and now PCS...I don't even think that I have Endometriosis but I do think a lot of people are being misdiagnosed and mistreated!

I will continue to research and see what else I can find to confirm that there is a link between the two - it makes sense to me and then of course it will also make sense that Hormones need to be checked and re-balanced before surgical interventions like Hysterectomies are even considered!

Pelvic Congestion Syndrome

What is Pelvic Congestion Syndrome?

Pelvic Congestion Syndrome (PCS) is a condition caused by Varicose Veins in the Pelvis. The Varicose Veins are caused by incompetent valves in the Veins of the Pelvis. This causes blood to fall back into the Pelvis rather than being taken away from the Pelvis by the Iliac Vein which causes congestion.

What are the symptoms of Pelvic Congestion Syndrome?

The symptoms of Pelvic Congestion Syndrome (PCS) are caused by these Varicose Veins pushing onto the other organs in the Pelvis:

* Pressure of the Varicose Veins onto the Pelvis causes Aching more so during a woman's period
* Pressure on the Rectum causes Bowel symptoms such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
* Pressure on the Bladder causes Irritable Bladder which can cause Stress Incontinence
* Pressure on the Vagina can cause Dyspareunia (Discomfort on Sexual Intercourse)

How is Pelvic Congestion Syndrome diagnosed?

If you suffer with any of the symptoms above and/or have any visible Varicose Veins around the Vulva, Groin or Vagina then you need to see a Medical Professional and have a Venous Duplex Ultrasound Scan. Scans such as Ultrasound, MRI and CT are not enough to diagnose Pelvic Congestion Syndrome. Sadly, a lot of women are misdiagnosed!

Currently in Ireland there is nowhere to have a Transvaginal Duplex Ultrasound Scan nor is the treatment for Pelvic Congestion Syndrome available in Ireland.

If you have PCS or you think you have please get in touch with Claudia at the Claudia McGloin Clinic/The Vein Clinic Ireland. You can contact her directly via email: claudia@claudiamcgloinclinic.com or by calling the clinic on 071 9140728.

Time to get those legs Summer Ready

Summer is fast approaching and if you have Thread or Varicose Veins that you want to get rid of then now is the time to start your treatments.

Unfortunately, there is not quick fix when it comes to treating Veins. We need to see you, assess you and scan you! You may only have Thread Veins on your legs BUT this is the first sign that there is potentially a 'hidden' Varicose Vein present.

If this is the case we will need to treat the Varicose Vein first before we can treat the Thread Veins plus you need to wear compression stockings day & night for 2 weeks after treatment so, we don't want to be treating you during a heatwave!

Contact the Claudia McGloin Clinic & The Vein Clinic Ireland today to book a consultation and get your legs Summer Ready :)

Get your Veins treated correctly from the beginning!

GP's are still telling their patients that Thread Veins are only Cosmetic and nothing to worry about. This is so NOT true!

FACT: - 9 out of 10 people with Thread Veins will have an underlying reflux and will need treatment for Varicose Veins! Remember that not all Varicose Veins are visible on the skin!

Everyone needs to have a Doppler and a consultation with a Medical Professional with Vascular experience before proceeding with any treatment on your Thread Veins.

Getting it right from the beginning will save you time and money!

Thankfully in Ireland, The Vein Clinic Ireland which is a sister clinic to the Claudia McGloin Clinic is dedicated and specialises in Veins!

Visit our website www.theveinclinicireland.com for further details on Vein Conditions, Treatments & Investigations.

Exhibiting the Claudia McGloin Clinic at the Mature Living Exhibit 2012

Claudia McGloin exhibited the Claudia McGloin Clinic at the Mature Living Exhibition 2012 at The Royal Theatre, Castlebar, Co. Mayo recently. The event was a huge success and we had the opportunity to meet some amazing people.

It was also lovely to meet so many people who had read Claudia McGloin's monthly editorials in the Mature Living Magazine and the feedback from the articles was fabulous. The visitors to the exhibit were also delighted to meet Claudia and to get the opportunity to ask further questions on the treatments and procedures offered at the clinic. Claudia even managed to pick up the nicknames 'The Diverticulitis Lady' and 'The Vein Lady'.

The Vein Clinic Ireland a division of the Claudia McGloin Clinic also launched their new website which coincided with the September Editorial for the Mature Living Magazine on Thread Veins.

Further details on The Vein Clinic Ireland can be found on www.theveinclinicireland.com and there is a dedicated facebook page as well - https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Vein-Clinic-Ireland/145909002197141
